  • by career cluster - What clusters seem most related to your interests or values or goals?
  • by growth outlook - Which jobs show the most potential for growth?
  • by industry - Which industry seems most related to your interests or values or goals?
  • by time of preparation required - Which occupations related to your interests/values/goals require the most education?
  • by skill set - Which skills do you currently have and/or desire to have? Which occupations are related to this?
Marcia
Foreclosure: when you preemptively take on an identity that others expect of you
ex: Your parents always wanted you to be a lawyer, so you apply to law school.

Moratorium: You don't know who you are, but you are willing to experiment (think Dora the explora!)
ex: Your plan after graduation is to go to school or maybe take a gap year or maybe go into the military - -you might even just stay home and get a part-time job: You are wiling to try it all.

Diffusion: You don't know who you are, but you don't seem too concerned about it either (diffusion rhymes with confusion)
ex: You don't have a plan for after graduation, but you are not worried either.

Achievement: You know who you are and you have done the exploring and questioning needed to formulate your beliefs, values, and goals. Ex: You went through a very difficult time after your parents' divorced (or other crisis) and now you know that you don't want to take over the family business as everyone thought you would. You are certain of your own interests, now.
